The picture above is of a practice drill in which a player from Pole B passes the ball to the player in Blue, who then passes it back to the White player and he has to dribble it past the Blue player (now a defender) and finish it off in the goal at Pole A.
This training drill will help the White Player to develop his dribbling and finishing skills and on the other hand, the defending skills of the Blue Player. In this way, both of the players will learn to handle this type of scenario in a real match without being confused and under pressure.
This drill is very important as the 1-on-1 scenarios like these can be the deciding moments of the match, like the Arjen Robben goal in the 2010 World Cup against Spain, the famous Champions league match decider by Fernando Torres against FC Barcelona. The moments like these can also make a defender noticed like Sergio Ramos, Pique, Virgil Van Dijk and the young Matthijs De Ligt.
